House Sitter in Santa Monica, California

I am a mid-50s Lutheran vicar (like a pastor) being posted to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Santa Monica for 10 months to one year. Can be August 2016 to August 2017 or August to June. Need a living situation within short commute of Santa Monica. Seeking a guest house or private room and bath living situation with or without rent, where I can reduce my costs by housesitting or pet sitting, or both, on an as-needed basis. I am experienced with dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, tropical fish, and pond fish. Have not cared for reptiles, but they don't scare me and I am willing to learn. No housekeeping or child care. I am married, nonsmoking, and I don't have guests or loud parties. However, my husband may visit. He is a professor at University of Pennsylvania. Venice, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Playa del Rey and the like are all fine.
