My name is Rachel Muir. I'm a native Californian and a Redwood City resident since 2003. I am a relatively active, enthusiastic, energetic, self motivated, eager to please, always happy to help, a young 45 soon to be 46 year old mother of a teenage son, 4 dogs, 3 parakeets, and a wide range of plants. I'm also a Senior level Microbiologist with a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. 20 years conducting research in a laboratory setting. I spent my 10 year professional career working in the biotechnology arena for a big business (DuPont Industrial Biosciences, 2008-201...) and a small startup (AvidBiotics Corp., 2017). I am a proven problem solver. I work with both my hands and my head. I am an author and an inventor, a teacher and a trainer, an instructor and a mentor. I have been an AYSO coach, volunteer referee, team mom, PTA member, parent chaperone, and on occasion team captain for my ladies' soccer teams. I enjoy people of all sorts. I am happy compassionate and tend to make people smile. I have experience as an events coordinator, biosafety level II training/instructor, environment health and safety ergonomics officer, collaboration manager and scientific liaison between our R&D project group and the representative heads for our partner' s business, marketing and sales, regulatory, and technology groups. I have remained somewhat athletic. I get outside as much as I can. I enjoy cooking and consuming food from all sorts of cuisine. I try and remember the key to efficiency is immediate action and that procrastination gets you nowhere. I follow threw and in general just like to get stuff done, especially if it's something I can do well for someone else who is in a position to appreciate the effort.
