In 2008 I relocated to the Los Angeles area to volunteer for the National Veterans Foundation, as a veteran of the US Marine Corps I realized that I got enormous gratification in assisting those that completed their commitment and looking for guidance for the next steps in their lives. While with this organization I was given the responsibilities of managing pre-opening for daily operations, I collected and accounted for all monetary donations from private and corporate supporters, this included writing thank you letters for each and fulfillment of book and merchandise orders. Monthly donations were consistently $18k-$21k avg. during my tenure. I organised incoming email, avg. 30 per day, responded to chats, and help man the and crisis hotline where often being on the phone was a matter of life or death, and accessing situations where critical. This lead me to eventually needing time for myself for reflection on what my future path would be that would give harmony and peace in my life. Prior to my volunteering I spent 20 yrs in the financial industry and needed to escape the corporate rat race that had devoting 60 hours weekly a way from family.
