House Sitter in Ponder, Texas

I'm an
Individual
I am a Christian wife, mother and grandmother and the most attentive/loving pack leader any fur baby could want . I always hope for equally yoked connections, i.e. the perspective client (who like myself) adamantly believes, in truth/honesty and unquestionable trust! Those are my only requirements in any relationship (business or personal) and if those are met I am content. I am organized, a creature of routine at times, detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated, an excellent team player but I function well alone too. I have many hobbies and passions so never bored or without something to keep me busy. Number 1 passion: Loving all animals - domestic and wildlife. I do not consider reptiles i.e. snakes in particular to be animals. lol I don't recall my childhood home or personal household ever being void of fish, birds, guinea pigs, a cat, etc. and at least one dog. My first and true love is "man's best friend." I have personally raised collie, sheltie, toy/rat terrier, mini pinscher, yorkshire terrier, maltese, bassett hound, boxer and jack russell terrier. I also had ample time around german shepherds, rottweillers and pit bulls. About 37 years ago, I spent 3-4 years working in a yorkshire terrier kennel in Houston, Tx. Tinker Toy's kennel was full of beautiful tiny champion yorkshire terriers. I learned so much in my years working with the breeder. She dedicated all her time to a breed of dog she wanted to help improve and make stronger. In her spare time, she focused on doing all within her power against Houston area puppy mills. It was such an unknown problem at that time, I recall having to ask what was a puppy mill. I digress, back to point! I can bath, brush, clip nails, feed, medicate (shots if required), administer heartworm, flea and tick treatment if necessary. I often clipped my own pets but do not feel qualified or trained to do so with another persons pet. I am accustom to helping dogs who have fear of loud noises such as firecrackers or thunder as my terrier still has issues with it occasionally. I find it easy to be patient with the angels because they are so patient with me. I discipline with calm assertive repetition and then give praise and love, I often play with and talk to them endlessly, and if your pet is a bed buddy do not be concerned, it is a natural occurrence for me. My fur-kid sits where I sit, goes out when I go out or uses puppy door, and sleeps where I sleep. I have not raised any dogs with destruction or chew problems, nor did I train mine to leash or crate but I do know how to do so. Mine have always been command responsive and well behaved yet spoiled rotten. My husband and I were amazed to find in years past many of our friends thought we used shock collars, never! They watched our dogs sit in the yard observing neighbor pets running free without chasing after them or leaving the yard. We trained them as puppies to stop and sit within 6-8 feet of the curb. So we never stopped to think about how it appeared to others. What once was an active 8-pack now only consists of one lone survivor who celebrated her 16th birthday in June 2016. I am not sure how much time I have left with her so unless you, the client prefer differently I would like to have her with me. She is a 15-18 lb. jack russel terrier, house-broken but she is almost blind and losing her hearing. We have battled cancer and endured some removals but it keeps returning. For most of her life, her bond has been with only me. She still has an occasional anxiety attack if I am away too long but if necessary she can stay with my husband. She isn't active like a terrier can be and now most often slumbers near who ever is still. She has been a lone wolf since puppyhood even when her pack was full, so she rarely acknowledges other dogs unless they overwhelm or trample her. Even then, she doesn't growl or get rowdy as she did in her youth but instead opts to get close to me for protection. Randomly, she acts possessive of me but not to a degree of causing issues as of yet. I am a writer and a photographer also, so if I sit with your home and pet for an extended time -- don't be surprised if you come home to an adventure story of your pet(s) with picture pages! I always keep pictures and records of each pet, instruction for care, and their parent(s) as well. I find it easier than You, the home-owner and pet parent having to repeat yourself each time I visit when an update or med changes will suffice. Another big passion has been my volunteer work and tutoring with special needs children. I began volunteering with Special Olympics and community fairs, festivals and dances in my early teen-age yrs. Babysitting and being big sister to a couple of children in my neighborhood was my first experience in being self-employed. Raising children and grandchildren of my own has only strengthened my love and caring for children, especially the DS child -- I look in their bright beautiful eyes and melt like chocolate in the Texas sun. DS children and terriers, the most high spirited, happy and unconditionally loving beings that the good Lord ever created! I apologize for my eagerness to place my profile, before receiving my background check and bond information I normally provide; however, hopefully I will have that all in order before my first call to duty on this website. I do have references which I will get typed and in order. I can assure you, my short and long ago brush with law enforcement, consisted of being ticketed for speeding 12 miles over the posted limit in a back roads west Texas town I would have missed if not for a flashing amber light, a 12' x 12' post office, the 10' x 10' gas station and the 6' DPS officer who stopped me. I was trying to get my 3 young children to a restroom before my back seat flooded. =)
