House Sitter in Penticton, British Columbia

Hi there, I'm Connie. Welcome to my profile! To start with a little background info, I'm Canadian and I spent most of my working years in Calgary, Alberta. I hold a Master of Business Administration degree, and after nearly 20 years as the HR & Admin Manager at a private investment management firm in downtown Calgary, I decided to take two years off to travel and contemplate a new career. I returned to Calgary 14 years later, spent a few years there working as the Marketing & Communications Liaison at a golf course, and I moved to Penticton in 2020. During my lengthy sabbatical, I backpacked around the world, often volunteering along the way. It was while traveling that I starting doing house and pet sitting, first looking after homes and pets for friends in Canada while they went on brief vacations, but eventually I accepted opportunities farther afield. My first housesitting job outside of Canada was a 6 month housesit in Chile while the owner went back to the States. Then I managed the clean-up/caretaking an old beach house in Costa Rica for 4 months. The majority of my house and pet sitting experience, however, was on the Caribbean island of Grenada. There aren't any boarding facilities in Grenada, so having a housesitter ensured that owners didn't have to leave their homes vacant and worry about break-ins while away, but they also knew that their beloved animals were receiving lots of TLC and being well looked after in their own homes during their absence! After returning to Canada and before Covid, I normally spent the winters in Cozumel, Mexico. While there I volunteered at the Cozumel Humane Society helping with both fundraising efforts and assisting with post-op procedures during their weekly spay and neuter campaigns (ie. helping the dogs and cats recover from surgery, grooming, tick removal, nail clipping, plus a good dose of TLC!). I also went down for their Kitten Cuddle, a weekly play date with the cats waiting for adoption. I'm very mature and responsible, a non-smoker, and the majority of my house/pet opportunities have been repeat customers or 'word of mouth' recommendations from past clients. My house/pet sitting jobs have ranged from 2 weeks to 6 months, and I've looked after mostly dogs and cats (some requiring daily meds and ear cleanings) but also some lovely little songbirds. In addition to pet care, I'm happy to help with gardening and light landscaping, pool maintenance if applicable, and I have experience with all. I've also managed housecleaning and gardening staff in the owners absence. Thanks for checking me out!
