House Sitter in Santa Rosa, California

Hello there! My name is Shelly. I grew up in Santa Rosa, CA and now my partner, Alex, and I are returning to my home town to care for my mom who was just diagnosed with ALS. I'm seeking housesitting and petsitting jobs in the Santa Rosa area so that Alex and I can have some safe space to spend time studying while offering companionship, love to your pets as well as keeping them fed, exercised, safe and healthy while you're away. I know how important it is to have a trusted, responsible person to caretake your life back home so that you can relax and focus on your time away. I love pets. I grew up taking care of animals, my mom had a horse, chickens, birds, cats and dogs when I was a kid. When I'm with my mom, I'll also care for our red heeler, Tara. I also love to work in gardens. After college, I worked in early childhood education and spent a lot of time as nanny during the first year of the pandemic. So, I've spent much time sharing and caring for someone else's home and loved ones, including pets and plants. I know what it's like to balance being trusted and welcomed into someone's home while respecting their customs, practices and privacy. I also know how comforting it can be to receive frequent updates and photos while you're away. Alex is a wildland firefighter and EMT. He's worked all over the country at vaccination sites and fire camps as a medic. Alex had a dog of 9 years who recently passed away and has experience taking care for loved pets who are part of the family. He knows the importance of keeping the pet's routine while you're away as he's hired this kind of care for his own dog and home. We are both comfortable administering medications, going on walks, monitoring any symptoms a pet may have, giving baths and just having silly active play time. Alex and I can both offer references if needed. We're both in our 30s and live careful lives in terms of covid, especially since we're caring for my mom. We're vaccinated and boosted, happy to show our vaccination cards. We're responsible, easy going and would love to work out how to make a mutually beneficial house/pet sitting relationship work.
