I am a 57 year old very responsible single male who wants to set up roots in the Sunriver/Bend area. My oldest friend Jeff Silna - a very close friendship which presently spans 52 years - bought a beautiful home in Sunriver two years ago, and resides there with his lovely Oregonian wife. Those two are the impetus for me aspiring to move there. I have visited them four times over the past two years and have become enamored with the area, the friendliness of the people, and the pervasive natural beauty. I quite enjoy the outdoors.
I recently lived in Albuquerque, NM and attained a masters degree in therapeutic counseling which I plan to couple with Ayurvedic (traditional East Indian) medicine focusing on chronic pain patients and the psychological debility they endure. My educational history is rich. I have spent much of my life using that education in the context of social service work. Years ago I attained a law degree in San Francisco and worked with indigent elderly. Later I studied, practiced, and taught Ayurvedic medicine in NM. CA, and the far east, eventually landing in Nepal and practicing on behalf of the indigent there. I studied western medicine back in the US, receiving a PA degree in NYC and practiced pain medicine for a few years in California and then Georgia. I was interestingly the only PA in the country signed off on doing the full battery of fluorscopic procedures, but in spite of this and the benefits that offered me, practicing strict western medicine was not my goal. Frankly, I was somewhat disappointed that I did not choose medical school which was an option and would have opened more integrative medicine doors.
I have lived about 10 years of my life in Asia either working or meditating. As I mentioned above, I have my therapy degree and want to conjoin my knowledge base and skill set by working on the psychological aspects of pain from an Eastern and Western perspective to benefit those who suffer.
For one of the two years I resided in the Albuquerque area I was a caretaker of a one acre property with four horses in Corrlaes, NM, a beautiful village directly adjacent to Albuquerque. I handled my responsiblities in the most thorough and meticulous manner. There are references available from both the property owner and the company that brokered the position, Additionally, I was a house sitter for two properties in San Francisco, Those references are also available upon request. The same is true about getting references from my old and equally meticulous friend Jeff in Sunriver. In short, I would care for anybody's property and chattel with the utmost respect - that is not lip service, it is true. I am detail oriented, fastidious and aim to please. I actually do believe that we reap what we sow.
would clearly be the most financially sensible way for me to begin to establish myself in the Sunriver/Bend community.
