We live in Calgary, Alberta and have two amazing pets Jaxs our dog and Sasha our cat. We prefer to leave our pets at their home when we go away for vacations as it is much less stressful for them. We live very close to off leash parks (one is steps from our back gate) and we are very accessible to major thoroughfares and shopping. Our dog has 2 walks a day (morning and early evening) and the cat is an indoor cat unless you are sitting on the deck and she will then join you.
