House Sitter Job in Colfax, California
Hi there, I am looking for new dog sitters. I was hoping to get away for a few days between xmas and New Years, but I've probably procrastinated for too long. If you are not available, I would really like to meet sometime soon for future dates. I usually only go away for two to three nights to the Bay Area and 1x longer yearly vacation; sometimes, but need feeding done. I have three old mutts - Buddy, Ernie and Brandi. Buddy is sweet and a bit boring, but now makes feeding him a chore if he doesn’t get a different flavor of food at each meal. Ernie loves to eat anything, but has a “bad” stomach if we go “off” balanced food that I make (although TRYING to find canned food he can eat.) Brandi is a total brat and will eat paper, painter’s tape, string….you get the idea. She is completely obsessed with food and I put her behind a little fence during meals until the boys are through eating. Obviously, they are three very spoiled dogs - and that’s how I like it. It is on behalf of the MILLIONS that are not spoiled. I also have a little bird named PeterPan aka Petie. He’s easy. I prepare all the their foods ahead of time with directions and notes, so all the sitter has to do is put it in the microwave for 30 second and then put Brandi behind her fence, put Ernie’s bowl down in front of him and throw! Buddy’s soft food of the meal on the floor. Then I give him the soft kibble flavor of the day next to that. They all get a treat thrown in the mix about that time, too. Sometimes, Buddy doesn’t start eating until that point. Brandi will be done with her food in about 15 seconds, at the most. And Ernie will then want more of HIS kibble thrown his way. When Buddy cleans up the floor and/or I do and I pick up Ernie’s bowl, I then let the eating terror out to finish the clean up. Done for that meal. Other than this rather odd feeding routine, they sleep….and look for the next meal. I feed them twice a day, about 9-10- a.m. and 6-7 p.m. Ernie gets eye drops for glaucoma, but I usually don’t ask the sitter to do it. The reason I mention it is that about noon and 9 p.m when I usually do the drops, they YES expect another small treat. Everybody likes it when Ernie gets his drops…. I had an instance lately when I didn’t know if I would be able to make it home that night and I didn’t have anyone close that I could call to go feed, at least. Freaked out, a bit. So want to remedy that. I live in Colfax area now. I leave the dogs alone during, almost, every day….but really try to make it for less than five hours at a time. I like a sitter who stays at the house as much as possible. Just about any questions that a sitter may have are answered in a binder I’ve been maintaining for many years and many animals! We live in a very cute house right off West Paoli In Colfax with an AMAZING view out the back and lovely, most of the time, garden. Here's the BUT: Hear trains very close!
