Who are the Fabulous Fabianos? While we might sound like a pair of high-flying trapeze artists, we’re actually a globe-trotting, married couple in our early 40s who share a passion for experiencing new cultures, love animals of all shapes and sizes, and who take pride in caring for each housesit as if it were our own. And as much as the “Fabulous Fabiano” moniker might embarrass us a bit, it’s one that people have attributed to us so many times that we quit fighting and just adopted it! If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em I suppose. Gina and I have been married for 17 years (but together for 22!). When we’re not housesitting or traveling, our homebase is a midcentury bungalow in Northern California’s wine country, which we lovingly restored, and now rent on Airbnb. We both work from home, Gina as a marketing consultant, and I’m a screenwriter and media producer. Gina is also a classically trained flutist and worked as a jazz music manager for many years. When I’m not writing, I can usually be found voluntarily pedaling up ridiculously steep hills on my bicycle, so you can immediately see who’s got the smarts in the relationship. We don’t have any kids, and after recently losing our sweet kitty after twenty years, we’re yearning for some fur baby time! "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." - Mark Twain Between the two of us, we have traveled to, lived, and worked in more than twenty-five countries in Europe, and North and South America. We have always loved trying to “live like locals” when we travel, and soak up the cultures, cuisines, and customs wherever we go. Raised in a Coast Guard family, Gina learned to adapt to a completely new home every two years as her father served at different stations across the United States. She came to love the new experiences and fresh starts each move offered her, and the “two year itch” is something that rubbed off on me once we were married. As a married couple we’ve lived in San Francisco, Washington DC, New York City, and Los Angeles. But far from solely being urban dwellers, I was raised on a rural sheep farm in Northern California, and Gina is an avid gardener, equestrian, and all-around DIY maker who loves to make even the pickiest orchids bloom! Dogs and cats and donkeys, oh my! What we love most about housesitting is being able to provide our clients with the calm certainty that their pets and homes are being completely cared for while they’re away. We are clean, respectful, honest people, and always the problem-solver, there’s not much that Gina can’t fix with her can-do attitude! We have looked after homes and estates in both urban and rural environments, and have experience caring for dogs, cats, chickens, goats, sheep, horses, rabbits, turtles, birds, and best of all (if you ask me) – donkeys! Many of our own personal vacations have been built around animals (whale watching in Nantucket and Baja – diving in the Galapagos, California, and Hawaii – looking for wild donkeys in Bonaire, and Utah) and whenever our birthdays rolls around we inevitably find ourselves at an aquarium or zoo. Why we love housesitting We will care for your home as if it is our own, and as Airbnb Superhosts, that takes on a special meaning for us. Whether we’re inviting people to stay in our own home, or looking after a client’s property, being of service is always foremost in our minds. We look for the things that will make a guest feel cared for and comfortable, and for a homeowner to feel at peace, knowing that their home and beloved pets are being looked after and loved. For us, one of the most rewarding aspects of the housesitting experience is welcoming our clients (who we also count as friends!) back home into their space, with their possessions, and pets, and being able to pick back up as if they never left.
