House Sitter in Show Low, Arizona

Last Labor Day I completed my first ocean swim, the 86th Annual Oceanside Pier Swim! A lap swimmer for nearly 40 years, an open water swim was on my bucket list, so I went for it! A 63 years old Arizonan, swimmer, jogger, cyclist, hiker/backpacker and novice kayak enthusiast. Best 10 years of my work-life I taught art to K-12 students (loved 7th graders) and most recently retired from 10 years in academia. I am employed part-time by the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs as a Fiduciary/Federal Payee and volunteer 15 hours a week to Northern AZ University's Civic Service Institute as a Senior Companion. Originally from Illinois, I moved to S AZ in 1988, lived in Fairbanks, Alaska 1984-85 (outstanding adventure) and now live in the White Mountains of AZ, a beautiful and active place to escape the desert heat. Interesting tidbits: worked at the Circle Z Guest Ranch, Patagonia, AZ; Sequoia National Park for a summer to hike the Sierras; animal lover; as an advocate for consumers of behavioral and mental health services,former seat/secretary on the Board of Directors, NAZCARE, Inc., committee member of N AZ Regional Behavioral Health Authority, member of AZ Office of Individual and Family Affairs. Formerly appointed to the Univ. of Arizona's Commission on the Status of Women; in 2001 completed an AZ Dept. of Transportation Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Highway-Related Construction Trades, eventually being offered the job to manage the program; experience with house and pet sitting. Most importantly, I am trustworthy and believe the best years of my life are still on the horizon, 'the world is my oyster'. I fell in love with the Oceanside/Carlsbad areas and want to spend more time there in conjunction with my 2nd pier swim in 2016.
