Forest Retreat This beautiful home was lovingly designed to offer the peace and quiet of a world apart with spectacular forest and valley views. The neighbourhood offers both a sense of community and respect for solitude and is within easy reach of groceries and other services. The two Airedale Terriers have been raised since puppies and love to take walks on the forest trails right out their back door. The dogs are fed twice a day and as a courtesy to the wildlife in the vicinity the dogs are kept within an electric fence or can run free in the large run at the back of the house. Yari is a 12-year old neutered male and a keen protector of his people. He barks when people he doesn’t know come by and then once he has decided you are ok, he will happily lick you and rub his face on your leg. Not behaviour I am keen on but he is well-intended and does not jump up on people in his exuberance. Kira is a 9-year old female and would happily become a lap dog if permitted – which she is not. The dogs live outside and sleep in the basement at night as they tend to keep a keen ear out for coyotes howling in the distance. They are well-behaved for the most part and the house sitter will have a list of commands that they understand. Yari will cry if he is on the deck and needs to pee as the back stairs are too steep for him to go down unaccompanied. House sitters will have use of the entire main floor which offers an open kitchen, living room with wood stove, full bathroom with shower, dining room and bedroom. The many windows bring in the light and the sense of being in the forest. In fact, the custom cabinets are all finished with birch harvested from the 20-acre wooded property. Trees, cut to create the home site, were milled on site and kiln dried to offer the rich warmth of wood flooring to compliment the heated tile floors; warm in the winter and cool in the heat of summer. The main floor covered deck is a beautiful place to entertain as is the back patio with fire pit. The open kitchen has plenty of counter space for the gourmet or casual cook alike. The home is primarily heated by a wood stove. The wood shed is well stocked but the opportunity to go out and chop wood certainly exists! There is covered parking for one vehicle.
