House Sitter Job in Oakland, California

Seeking a low-key, cat-friendly, non-smoking house sitter from December 25-31, 2... or for a portion thereof (I'm flexible as to dates), minimum 4 days. Please note: I am looking for someone who is willing to do this gratis in exchange for a place to live for two weeks -- probably someone visiting the area or in between homes in the Bay Area. If that sounds like you, here are more details. You would provide care and companionship to my two sweet kitties, watering patio garden, bringing in mail....easy on all fronts. I live in a one-bedroom condo in one of the nicer areas (Piedmont Avenue area) of Oakland. It's a quiet, backyard unit with a patio for lounging and fun shops and restaurants a 5-minute walk away. This is a good home base for exploring both San Francisco and the East Bay (Berkeley, Oakland, etc.) area. The local BART rail station is a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk -- and from there ride to downtown San Francisco (20 min.). UC Berkeley is 5 miles away, a 30 minute bike ride or commutable via BART and nearby bus lines. Although my place is not fancy, it is cozy and comfortable, provides all you need (wi-fi, tv, usual kitchen appliances), sweet kitty companionship, and great access to Bay Area attractions and nature spots. The space is a backyard unit so if you are looking for views or lots of bright light, this probably isn't for you. (There are plenty of windows but they look out onto the patio, which is alternately sunny and shady). Would really like someone who likes caring for cats and knows their ways. One of my cats receives a medication by mouth daily; if you are experienced and comfortable with this, extra points. If not, I can get the medication compounded into something he will drink from a saucer, so it is doable. No overnight guests, please.
