House Sitter in Providence, Rhode Island

I have been house/pet sitting (mostly through a different site) for the past six years. Lots of experience, great references which I’ve copied here. I’m happy to care for pets, plants, and beautiful homes. I am a New Yorker in heart and soul living in Rhode Island which I also love. I have been an educator for over 35 years and after having worked independently for several years, I am back in the classroom working full time as reading specialist. During the summer vacation, I welcome the tranquility of any place in nature, especially near/on water (pools included!). During the school year, I’m happy to sit and/or provide pet and plant care within a 30 minute drive of Providence. I miss having my own pets! Sitting goes a long way to filling that "hole”. Following are reviews I’ve received from sits on another site. #1. Jane - Tiverton, Rhode Island, United States: 29 May - 25 Jun 2022 Nancy took excellent loving care of our cat Luca, and she also left the house in perfect condition. My plants have never looked better. She was very flexible and easy to work with. We hope to have her again. #2 Katie - Hingham, Massachusetts, United States: 2- 18 Aug 2021 Nancy did a wonderful job of caring for our sweet cat, Poe, while we were away. She stayed at our home for over two weeks and really gave us peace of mind during our travels. She was great at communicating with us, providing both photos and updates from home on a regular basis. When we returned to the house we found a very happy and well cared for cat, the house itself was very clean and organized, and Nancy had even left a few treats in the fridge for us - completely unnecessary but very much appreciated! We highly recommend Nancy as a trusted house sitter and hope to have her spend more time with Poe at a future sit! We’d definitely have her come again! #4:Suzanne - Bellport, New York, United State: 29 May - 1 Jun 2021 Nancy was wonderful! The communication was excellent right from the start and Nancy was very pro-active in wanting to know the specific details of the pet care. We have a busy household with 7 animals (cats, dog, turtle) and lots of plants to care for. One animal required medication for the duration of her stay. Nancy quickly learned the drill and did a great job holding down the fort. I came home to happy pets and a tidy home. I would highly recommend! #5: Linda - Wickford, Rhode Island, United States: 19 - 24 Aug 2019 Nancy is a lovely person. Since she lives only about half an hour from me, she came weeks early for a meet and greet to learn about the animals and home. She arrived the night before for the sit and took over for me the next morning, since I had an early flight. When I arrived back home, the house was neat and tidy and Sammy, my bloodhound, and Babar, my cat, were happy and healthy. I would recommend Nancy as a responsible and capable sitter. #6: Karen - Ipswich, Massachusetts, United States: 7 - 22 Jun 2019 Can't say enough about Nancy... She went above and beyond... Nancy took care of our very large house, 2 large dogs and cat. We came home to happy pets and a house in order! While we were gone, Callie was an unhappy cat, who ate less and less. Nancy was in touch immediately, took her to the vet, and all was fixed. Callie began eating again and was back to normal in no time. Highly Recommend! #7: Susan - Hull, Massachusetts, United States: 11 - 18 Oct 2018 Nancy saved our vacation when she cheerfully volunteered to pet-sit for us with only 24 hours notice! The sitter we had originally arranged had a last minute emergency and couldn’t come. And we can’t kennel our very old German Shepherd, as she is too frail. So what a relief when Nancy agreed to come. And what a great pet sitter she is! We own 2 older dogs - one of which is very frail - and also a cat. Nancy looked after them all superbly. Her communications through the week were much appreciated too. When we returned home, the animals were in great shape, and the place was spotless. We’d have her back again in a New York minute! We are very grateful to her. (Multiple sits) #8: Meredith - Manhattan, New York, United States: 30 Mar - 8 Apr 2018 Nancy was the perfect apartment- and cat-sitter. Our cat Naya is a sweetie, but she is shy. I was worried how she would adapt to someone she had not met before. But Nancy was very very patient with our cat, and in time they became very good friends! Nancy was also great about keeping in touch, which eased my mind during our ten-day trip. The apartment was in great shape when we arrived home, and Nancy even left us a delicious treat! I hope she can sit for us again! #9: Erin - Poughkeepsie, New York, United States: 14 - 18 Jun 2018 Nancy was wonderful! I returned to my house and animals just as I left them. She is a kind, considerate and a trustworthy person I would have her back if the opportunity arises. (Multiple sits) #10: Rachel - Glen Cove, New York, United States:23 - 27 Nov 2016 Nancy responded to a last-minute request I posted for a cat sitter and true to her word was available immediately to virtually meet/interview. She was timely in correspondence and was sure to arrive with plenty of time before my own departure for a long holiday weekend. Nancy was even more lovely to interact with in person. She reviewed the information I had sent to her ahead of time and was prepared with questions. Her thorough walk-through of my home and attention to cat instructions made me feel comfortable leaving my world in her hands. Upon my return, I found the apartment as clean as I had left it and a happy, healthy cat who seemed to barely notice I had been gone. I certainly plan to call upon Nancy for future sits and assure you she is an excellent person to look after your home and pets.
