House Sitter in Kailua Kona, Hawaii

Hi! We're a responsible couple from Kansas, who already own our own home. We're looking to move to Hawaii within 2 years, but rather than jump into the deep end, we'd love to get a feel for the islands beforehand. While we have family in Kauai, and have also had family in Oahu, there's a big difference between visiting and moving. House sitting seems a perfect way to achieve our goal, and to help out someone else in the process. About us- we've owned our own home for about six years now, we bought it outright (no mortgage!) as a repo and we're slowly taking care of all its issues, and let me tell you- a 100 year old house has plenty of issues! We have two grown children, a 25 year old son who's out of the nest and a 19 year old daughter who's getting ready to fly on her own as well. We are college-educated, and both Bo and Aileen will receive bachelors degrees within two years- Bo in Education and Aileen in Liberal Arts with a focus on Environmental Studies. Our plan is to finish our degrees, move to Hawaii, and put them to good use! Aileen has worked at the University of Kansas as an admin for nearly 8 years, and Bo is finishing up his 8th year in the Lawrence school district as a para educator. We can provide professional recommendations if you request them. We both have medical insurance through our jobs. We have several pets of our own, dogs and cats, and have worked at a doggie daycare/boarding facility in the past, so we're familiar with most dog breeds, and with dog behavior when they're out of their element (as when Mom & Dad are away!). We're also familiar with rodents, as our youngest child has had mice, hamsters, and rats. Lizards and snakes are ok too. As we're both employed, we're not looking for pay to house sit for you.
