House Sitter in Santa Barbara, California

Hello! My name is Megan Parker, I am 23 years old and I am from Upstate New York. I am an aspiring animal care specialist currently working towards a degree in zoology. I have completed various previous house sits through the trusted house sitter site. I am new to this site but they are similar. I even traveled to Costa Rica to dog and house sit. I can provide many references and reviews as well! My previous employment as a feline caregiver at Brigid’s Crossing Cat Sanctuary in Bonita Springs, Florida has prepared me well for a job with a variety of important duties such as overseeing the safety of a property and pets. My responsibilities at the sanctuary included all levels of feline care. Beyond feeding, cleaning and daily care, I was also responsible for managing medical attention, including administering medications and giving injections to the injured or ill cats on a daily basis. At the sanctuary I worked as part of a team, coordinating and communicating with my supervisor on a daily basis; but I also worked alone on my evening shift, preforming all of my duties independently and without direct supervision. This helped me to learn new things quickly and instilled an extremely strong work ethic and attention to detail. My most recent employment as a Home Health Aide for a senior with dementia is also a position with enormous responsibilities, through which I’ve matured, gained confidence and enhanced management skills. I work independently with my resident, providing all basic care, including feeding, hygiene, cleaning, scheduling of appointments and transportation. Compassion, time management, communication, punctuality, positivity, and the ability to make quick independent decisions are all critical skills to my duties as a caregiver. Overnight stays as well as running errands were an important aspect of this job. I have also performed a variety of volunteer work including helping an elderly neighbor with his small blueberry farm and basic lawn care, assisting at the local day care center, and volunteering at the animal shelter. Additionally, my work with my family’s lawn care business (BP Enterprises) included gardening and landscaping. I have also worked as a housekeeper and chambermaid so I am not afraid of hard work and keep a determined mindset. I am comfortable maintaining the landscape/property if needed and of course maintaining cleanliness of the property.
