Hello! We are a retired couple, both non-smokers, with impeccable references. We are eager to travel and assist homeowners throughout the world. Retirement and financial security provide us the opportunity to help with the care of your home and pets while experiencing new cultures. We have owned our own farm (10 acres) with horses, dogs and a large garden. Additionally, we boarded and cared for horses owned by other people. Member Reference We just returned from 6 weeks in Europe, leaving our older dog who was having stomach problems and a rather new cat, who was on the night shift, in Steven and Glenda's hands. They kept everything in top shape and kept us informed frequently with pictures and e-mail notes. They developed a method of keeping the dog out of the cat's food, which proved to be the source of the problem. They also quickly and efficiently dealt with a mower breakdown. Member Reference Steve and Glenda were an absolute dream team to have at our home while we were away. We live on a 7 acre farmette with horses, chickens, dogs, cats, bunnies, even a bearded dragon, and they didn't miss a beat. In addition to regular email/text updates about our property and pets, they offered to help out with various chores while we were away. Three acres of lawn were cut, a large garden was weeded, and my neighbors could not say enough about what lovely people they both were. Member Reference Steven and Glenda took care of our house, two dogs and two cats for a month while we were cycling in Europe. They were fabulous! They were great with the animals (who adored them). They gave medicine to our elderly cat twice daily, brushed the animals regularly, and exercised our large, athletic dogs. They watered our plants, mowed the lawn, dealt with minor repairs as they arose, and took on a number of projects around the property, totally unsolicited! The place looked great when we arrived home. We were so confident with them that we were able to enjoy our trip without worrying about the house and animals. We KNEW they were in good hands. Because of my work schedule, most days, I was unable to be present during the day, however, they are self-sufficient and self-starting and I did not have to worry about the work they were doing. It was always meticulous and done well. Steven and Glenda mainly did yardwork and landscaping for me, which the inn really needed and I am just thrilled with everything they accomplished. They also did a little painting and took down part of an old fence as well. They are real assets and we would love to have them come back any time! This was a new experience for us as they are in our own age group rather than the younger help-xers we have had stay here before and we were interested to see how it all worked out. And it worked really well! They are a lovely and very hardworking, diligent couple. Good company and easy houseguests too. Steve is without doubt the quietest spoken American we have ever met and Glenda is always on the go, both of them eager to start work in the morning. They have helped us get on top of all our jobs before the winter - and some jobs we had planned for next year - how good is that!? They replaced the railway sleepers around our veg beds; weeded, mucked and 'Mypexed' the beds ready for the winter months; chopped and stacked logs par exellence; cut back brambles and thistles, cut the hedges, helped with the livestock, harvested apples (a seemingly never ending job!) and pumpkins. The dogs adored them and our sheepdog has been asking us where his 'buddy' Steve has disappeared to! We are enormously grateful for the help they gave us, and hope we stay in touch. Glenda is a whirlwind of activity,she just doesn't stop, either going blackberry picking with Flo and Artie, bringing in and stacking logs for our wood burning stoves or doing the laundry and that's before the daily shift in our shop. Steven is equally busy but in a quieter way, he restored an old wooden family spice rack for us as a surprise and helped prepare a refridgerated display unit and blackboard signs for a trade stand at The World Ploughing Championshps which were held locally. Steven and Glenda helped us in the daily running of our shop, amongst other things and were chatty and charming with all our local and regular customers.
