I would be honored to care for your home, pets and plants for up to 60 days. My husband and I are financially stable and live in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. We are currently researching countries where we might want to live in a few years. I am very flexible with my schedule and have the funds available to fly abroad even on short notice. I do not smoke, very rarely have a glass of wine and am physically fit. I am crazy organized, hyper responsible and refreshingly honest or so I've been told. Nature is my primary interest area with a close second being travelling and learning foreign languages. I love dogs and other pets. As a child, I always had 1 dog and 1 cat. As a parent, we had fish and gerbils and dogsat as often as possible in our home. As empty nesters, we recently got a dog and have fallen in love with her! As a single mom homeowner for many years, I learned how to fix or troubleshoot almost any household maintenance emergency. Unfortunately, I had to help my best friend when her house was actually on fire at 3am, dealing with the firefighters and keeping her family safe and calm in -10 degrees celcius weather in their pajamas! She is one of my references and can attest to my calmness under pressure and willingness to do whatever is required in an emergency. To help pay the bills as a single mom, I rented out my lower level bedroom, family room and bathroom on AirBNB for about 5 years. Guests from around the world stayed at my home, which was delightful, but I also quickly realized that I am an official clean freak! When I travel, I often stay in AirBnBs as well. I always strip the bed, putting all towels and sheets in a pillow case outside the door and ensuring everything in the room is exactly where I found it. Even in hotels, I get scolded by my kids and husband, “You are not the housekeeper! You don’t need the clean the hotel room, they have people who get paid to do that.” Actually, I was a paid hotel, dormitory and apartment cleaner for my college part time jobs. I revert back to cleaning whenever I am stressed or just want to feel happy and comfortable in my surroundings. I have lived, worked or studied abroad in several countries on 4 continents (North America, Europe, Asia & Africa.) At one point, I spoke 6 languages, but lack of use have dwindled my ability to spontaneously communicate in all but English, French & Spanish. Luckily, languages come easily to me and they come back quickly when I’m immersed. I have yet to live in South America and would love to get my Spanish closer to fluent!
